- Last day of term (12.00 pm finish)

 Old Girls Association
The Old Girls Association has been going strong since 1939.  It is a way of communicating with Peer Groups, as well as meeting new friends. Our ages may vary from older members to younger ‘girls’, but we all get on very well and share ideas regarding activities and Guest Speakers.

We meet up approximately three times a year – Autumn and Spring and at our Annual General Meeting and Dinner mid-May. Our Autumn and Spring Meetings are usually held in The Sixth Form Centre, courtesy of the School, when there is ample time to catch-up and chat over an appetizing supper, provided by The Committee.

In the past, we have had Craft Evenings, Flower Arranging, Plant Potting, Cookery Nights, Cupcake decorating, Fashion Shows and various Guest Speakers from the BBC. Also we have taken part in the Gardeners’ Question Time Road Show Programme, hosted by Cherrie McIlwaine, broadcast on Saturday mornings, so we are famous! We have had other activities, far too numerous to mention, besides those listed above. This year we had a Nostalgic Film Evening in the Lecture Theatre, complete with popcorn and choc ices. We showed ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’, starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. This was chosen specifically because the iconic film was made in 1961 and beautifully complimented the Era of the early Sixties when Belfast High School move from Glenravel Street, Belfast, to its present Campus in Greenisland in 1963.

Every other year we support the Belfast High School Musical – what talent these young boys and girls possess! During the Interval we have a refreshment table reserved specially for us.

We each pay an Annual Subscripton of £10. This covers all our postage (although most now on e-mail), a fee and/or a gift for visiting Guest Speakers. At our AGM we give most of this money to Mrs Gormley to be used for purchasing ‘extras’ to benefit current pupils at the School. We have held our AGM & Dinner for several years in The Templeton Hotel, Templepatrick who give us exclusive use of their formal dining room, complete with Silver Service for the entire evening and free from a Room Hire Charge.

All Old Girls are very welcome to join us and you can bring a friend or two with you, if you like. We always extend a warm welcome to eyeryone who comes along and we would especially be interested to hear from any of the younger age groups who may like to join us. Please contact Belfast High School for further details and a contact number. We all very much look forward to meeting you soon.
