NGO Challenge Fund Project 2013-14

Belfast High School was successful in a bid for £5,000 from NGO Challenge Fund. This money has been used to improve the school environment for the benefit of the school community. The school lost a substantial number of trees due to the new Shore Road project and bus park. Funds from this project have enabled us to replenish the school gardens with a variety of trees, shrubs and hedging. These gardens will be used as an educational resource. Pupils from local and international partner schools have assisted with the planting of trees and shrubs.

New glass has also been installed in the school greenhouse as part of its refurbishment. Large terracotta planters and window boxes will further enhance our environment. Additionally, two wooden benches have been purchased for the Form One garden. Many thanks go to Mr Davy Scott and Mr Mervyn Johnston for all their work on this very worthwhile project.
